This test measures the levels of specific enzymes in the blood to find out Gaucher disease, a rare genetic disorder that affects lipid metabolism. Gaucher disease is an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder that leads to the accumulation of glucocerebroside in tissues due to defective activity of the enzyme Beta-Glucosidase, caused by mutations in the GBA1 gene.
