This test measures the concentration tof the Tumor Necrosis Factor - alpha which may be useful in evaluation of patients with suspected systemic infection, in particular infection caused by gram-negative bacteria or evaluation of patients with suspected chronic inflammatory disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or ankylosing spondylitis.
