It is a painless and non-invasive test that detects subtle changes in blood flow in response to any activitiy. The scan helps identify any changes in signals caused by the increase in blood flow to specific areas of brain. The scanner marks the activity as a colored area. It uses a contrast agent for better visualization. Functional MRI can show the effects of a brain stroke, trauma, or Alzheimer's on brain function.
