The test uses sound waves to monitor the growth of follicles in a woman’s ovaries and document the pathway to ovulation. Since ovulation plays a crucial role in the conception process, it is essential to study follicular growth when diagnosing fertility problems. The test uses a sterile transducer and looks at the ovaries and uterus internally, paying particular attention to the follicles within the ovaries. The doctor may advise this test for women who do not ovulate and couples who cannot conceive after 6-12 months of trying.
